Lions, Turtles and Volcanos??

Hey everyone, thanks for visiting the chaos here at the nest.  We AGAIN lost internet and they said they would send their "best technician" out to fix the problem once and for all!  Guess what?  HE DID IT!!! (for now!)  So here's hoping that the issue is fixed!

Also this weekend he had SO MANY people at the house.  My son had an early birthday weekend sleepover with all ALL of his friends.  You know how much fun it is to be in a smallish house with 6 teenage boys.  Trust me, not too much fun and no silence to be had!  Not to much time for beading either; but I did get some done.  What else would I do since we had no internet?!?

Well, to start off I get to show you something that I made last week for my Niece's graduation.  Actually, she is my niece by association.  She is my best friends daughter and as such she is my Niece.  I know that she loves turtles so I made her some earrings.

Here they are with the hooks on.

I had to wait until she got them before I could show them off.  I am glad that she got them and loves them!

This week over at Every Inchie Monday the theme is Lion.  A few months back the theme at 2x2x2 was Lion so I had to make this one different than that one.  So since the Lion is the King of the jungle I made a crown filled with jewels.

This inchie has 8 metallic jewel tone colors in it.  A very pretty and expensive looking crown, if it were real!

Also this week over at 2x2x2 the theme is Volcano.  I had visions of this one being clearer looking than it came out but the colors kinda blend together more than I wanted to.  What do you think?

Well, that is it for me this week.  Don't forget to fly on over to EIM and 2x2x2 to check out the great art and join in the fun.  Have a blessed and creative week my friends.

Zebras, Tigers and Raspberries everywhere!

Hey everyone I hope this finds you all well.  I am doing a bit better.  Most of the last 2 weeks have been without the internet.  AGAIN!!!!!  ARG!!!!!!  They think that they know what the problem is (again).  So only time and the weekend will tell!  LOL  But while I do have internet I am going to post as quickly as I can.

Last week the theme over at Every Inchie Monday was Zebra.  So I just went with the pattern flow and did the black and white stripes, and again I wonder why I do this to myself.  While it looks easy compared to all the other ladies works, the non symmetrical part of the pattern drove me crazy!  I am gonna stand up to my first thought and tell it to be symmetrical or else!!  LOL well until then here is my zebra.

Nice and shiny right?!?  Also last week over at 2x2x2 the theme was Raspberry. I thought of all the things that raspberry could have been.  But since I couldn't figure out how to show someone giving a baby a blurbur on their belly, I went with the fruit.  When in doubt go with fruit!

I really love the red color of these beads.  They are opaque transparent.  When you hold them up to the light you can see thru them but they are not completely transparent!

Now to get to this weeks work!  Over at EIM the theme this week is Tiger.  Do you remember just a few paragraphs ago I said that I was not going to do anything that was not symmetrical??  Well, I think that will have to start after this week hahaha.

Tigers are one of my favorite animals.  As a teenager I told myself that when I became famous I was going to have a pet tiger.  Well, well.... lets just say I have yet to become famous... and I don't own a tiger.  Sigh!  LOL

Well, that is it for me.  I am typing as quickly as I can.  I am trying to out run the internet loss.  Lets just hope that we don't lose it but, if the past is any indication then I need to type faster!  Just don't forget to fly on over to EIM and 2x2x2 to check out the great works from everyone, and join in the fun!  Have a blessed and creative week my friends!

Gorillas in the Midst?!?

Hey everyone how is it going this week?  I am a bit late this week because we have YET AGAIN lost internet.  Usually when we lose internet it is because a storm has interfered with it.  Resulting in us losing internet for 2-4 days!  This time we will be without internet until NEXT Monday!  They are supposed to be giving us the upgrade that was supposed to happen in January.  Let's hope so.  So right now I am in Starbucks sniffing up the beautiful coffee caffeine smell and enjoying some great Jazz.

Also, I just want to say that prayers are going out to those people in London and Manchester who have been affected by the terrorist attacks.  God bless you all and you are all in my prayers.  I worked last night on a pattern that I will hope to finish later tonight.  I know that a beaded piece of art can not change things but for me it is a way to show support and help to heal not only those who hurt who might see it but also to help me to heal and deal with my feelings on what has happened; as I am a person who feels things like this deeply.

I lived in England on September 11, 2001 and the love I got from the English people at that time made me feel so connected to them so when something like this happens over there I am impacted as well, again, prayers to all of those affected by these tragic times.   May God heal and change our hearts to love one another instead of hate.

Now, onto something fun and pretty.  I need some pretty right now, don't you?  Over at Every Inchie Monday the theme is Gorilla.  This one was supper challenging for me.  How was I gonna get a gorilla out of beads?  Time to surf the net.  Did you know that some gorilla species have less than 1,000 left in the world? Including the Cross River Gorilla (300 left) and the Mountain Gorilla (720 left).  WOW!  Because of this I decided to design the logo of Endangered Species International

Simple and sweet, 2 colors of Delicas and I really like it.

Also this week I worked on 2 different pieces one for Seed Beads and More, this month the theme is loom work and I decided to make a bracelet using my smallest Delicas, 15's.  The ones I use for my inchies are 11's.  I don't have a lot of 15's but I worked them and took a cross stitch pattern of flowers and cut it down and beaded it up.  Then I had to add to the top of it since I was not taking into account that the smaller beads would make the length smaller.  LOL  The top flower and birdie are my design.  I will also be working on finishing it up and adding the clasp this week.  Check it out.

The best part of this flower bracelet is that I can't kill these flowers!!!  LOL.  Also this week I worked on another one of my Kawaii inspired patterns.  I call her StrawBetty Ice Cream cone.

With this one I found out that the design I put in the bottom of the cone to show the waffle look did not show up like I was hoping.  But I still think she is adorable.  She is just over 2 inches long and an inch and a quarter wide.  I adore the little purple bow!  Don't you?

Well, that is it for me this week.  I am hoping that next week I will have the bracelet finished and the tribute piece for London done as well.  Don't forget to fly on over to EIM, 2x2x2 and Seed Beads and More to check out the great challenges and join it!  It is so much fun having the creative outlet and showing off your art.  I would love to see it!  Have a blessed and creative week my friends.
