This week I only have 2 things to show. This week over at Every Inchie Monday the theme is Hippo. I love hippos, they are so cute and such a gentle giant. But don't piss them off! They can charge at you and for sure those 2 big teeth can put a damper on anyone's day! Anyways here is my hippo.
Also this week over at Seedbeaders the "bead along with me challenge" is a pen and pencil cover. I have always wanted to do a pen cover but have never sat down to do it...until now!
This is a G2 pen and it seems to be the only pen that you can do this on, since the pen clip is up enough for the beads to be under the clip without being squished. This pattern has 5 colors in it. Teal, brown, orange, silver and white.
The cool thing about this pen is that when the ink is gone you can either take the cover off and put it on another one. Or, you can just replace the ink cartridge and keep going. I have a feeling this will not be the last time I make one of these. My brain is already working on patterns for them! haha.
Well, that is it for me this week. Don't forget to fly on over to EIM and 2x2x2 to check out the challenges and join on in. Have a blessed, safe and creative week my friends
Your hippo is great, not an easy one to do with beads. Love the pen cover, they would make lovely gifts.

DeleteI totally agree with Wendy and Chrissie, your hippo is amazingly "hippo-y" and detailed and I love the pen sleeve...hope your 4th. celebrations went well...Dixx
ReplyDeleteThanks Dianne, my 4th celebrations were nice and quiet. Hope yours was good as well.
DeleteQuite a challenge to bead a hippo....can you imagine doing that for real? I wonder how many beads it would take? Well done for creating such a huge beast in such a small space that is recognisable too and the pen sleeve....drooling with envy! I've seen needlecases (étuis) done but never a pen sleeve.

Thanks Sally. I have become a bit obsessed with them at the moment. I have made 1 more and will start one more tonight!
DeleteAs ever always intrigued to know how you are going to come up with each weeks challenge and Hippo - in beads? on an inch? I thought it was impossible but you've nailed it - fabulous and I love the pen cover - almost Indian in colouring
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, glad that you liked it so much. The pen wrap was so much fun
